He asked me where I was from. I acted like a weirdo (I’m fun like that from time to time). Please help me find him.

The story

I had just come from a week long writer’s workshop in Antibes, France. (pictured above) It was Saturday, June 13th and I was blissed out while wandering Old Town Nice, France, with my friend Lindsey. As we rounded a corner and my hunger roared I saw tiny but open tables at an adorable restaurant, Le Bistro du Fromager. We grabbed a spot. I went in to use the WC ahead of lunch. I geeked out at the interior of the dining room and took photos, it’s so cute.

When I came back to sit with Lindsey I noticed an attractive man at a table to our right. NBD. Until he started talking to me. He asked where we were from. Later I’d ask Lindsey how he knew we weren’t locals and she laughed while pointing out, “He could hear us.”

I was not prepared for an attractive, intelligent and interesting man to be chatting with me in the middle of Old Town. I panicked. I didn’t want to seem too eager so I thought I’d play it cool. Lindsey pointed out, after he’d said goodbye, that I was SO ice-cold-cool that I was uncool. I didn’t even ask him questions… which is proof for everyone who knows me that I was being a weirdo. I indeed have so many questions for him.

I can’t change the past (my behavior lol) but I can use resources available to see if this could be a re-connection for the books. Thank you kindly for your help.

I took this selfie w/ Lindsey before I noticed Old Town Nice Guy who was probably wondering why I didn’t just ask him to take it as he was seated exactly behind the camera.

Yes I know it would be miraculous to connect us. AND… I have a history of experiencing miracles so here we are.

Please share this, forward this, etc. If you think you’ve got something that could allow the convo to continue please email me at HeySerena@SerenaHicks.com.

Thank you for joining me in this adventure. Thank you for joining me in this thing we call life.

The Old Town Nice, France, Guy (clues):

  • Lives in San Francisco, CA, since 2005 and knows that I live in Dallas, TX, USA.

  • Was in Old Town Nice on Saturday June 13th 2026, solo adventuring ahead of work in London on Monday.

  • He travels to London for this same particular client 3 or 4 times a year.

  • Works as a data investigator - maybe “data forensics” - for a company that works with lawyers. His company (I’m assuming his team too) worked w/ the government on the Bernie Madoff cases. Per my googling I’d bet he works at one of these companies; Kroll, FTI Consulting, Ankura, AlixPartners or BRG. I’m not brave enough to call any of them to ask about him with these vague details. Even I have limits. But if you know anyone who works for these companies… please share this with them.

  • He lived in NYC from 2000 to 2005 while he worked for Deloitte.

  • He moved in 2005 from NYC to San Francisco to take a new job at a new company.

  • He grew up in Los Angeles.

  • I got the impression he loves his line of work (I can so relate!) and is verrry good at it.

  • He has dark blue eyes and dark brown hair.

  • I’d guess he’s 5’10” or so.

  • I’d guess he’s 48 years old or so (I also moved to NYC in 2000 hence this guess).

  • No visible tattoos, no wedding ring, no obvious accent.

Photos below left to right: Me about one hour prior to Old Town Nice (France) and lunch, if you look CLOSELY and to the verrry right of this photo you can see his knee (ignore the tourists) and Lindsey too. I came out of the bathroom and geeked out on how cute this little place is/was and finally on the right the escargot + sourdough combo was heaven in food form. If you’re EVER in Old Town Nice be sure to get it at Le Bistro Du Fromager. 10/10 recommend no notes.

xo!
